3. I think it's kind of comedic how honor lvl 5 doesn't translate to being honorable as in player behaviour at all. I can't even recall how many times my honor lvl 5 X laner starts full clearing my jungle or rage splitts (or both lol). How about we stop adding rewards and focus our resources on pinning down soft inters and trolls that know their toxic behaviour is flying under the radar. Very often the viscous cycle of toxicity starts with someone getting soft trolled on repeat, they get banned for flaming and switch to soft trolling just like the person doing it to them. Thats the core issue not honor rewards for people who manage to fool the system.

6. Two major things contribute to toxicity. The first is the goal of every player being to win: if people see you stepping out of the cookie-cutter builds and meta picks which they personally associate with wins, and they want nothing more than to win, then they will become toxic. Not enough players play to improve and understand the game, or even to just have fun anymore, rather than just mindlessly adhering to the reliable things they're told work by pros and meta websites.

   The second is that Riot consistently decreases the agency which good gameplay should reward you with. It used to be that getting ahead would set you up to basically win the game alone, unless your team were absolutely incompetent. It was the best player vs the best player. Now it's typically the worst player who loses you the game. Some of this is general snowball power being reduced in champions which used to be able to run away with games. Some of this is the steady increase of comeback mechanics over time, which make it much easier to come back from behind than it is to set up a lead in the first place. Riot have effectively made it so a toxic person exercises more agency over a game than a good player ever could. This is a more fundamental problem with the mechanics of the game itself, which I'm not sure Riot is willing to reverse. So they use this honor bandaid to try and compensate for it.

8. I feel like the answer is to give a token for any "cheep" skin, the old skins no one is buying anyway, that gives the player base a huge amount choice and riot isn't making money from them skins anyway, even if they pick 1 for each champ and it rotates every season or something

9. I recently started playing Pokemon Unite again, and their honour system is pretty great imo. It's a bar that goes from 1-100 and every time you do something wrong, you can visibly see it go down. If you afk that's -5 points and you can only get 5 points a day. Get below 80 and you're banned from ranked, below 60 and you're banned from normals. It's tangible! Unfortunately the reward is the equivalent of like 50 BE every day, which is really nothing.

   On the subject of getting random friends: I mostly play league with friends nowadays. The days where I play league alone are honestly the days where I'm miserable. My mindset when playing league alone is that of just trying something new or really tryharding, which usually leads to me having a bad time. I'm prone to afking, but my friends usually keep me in or we all agree on the surrender. Randomers just make it so much more frustrating to stop playing when you're not having fun. This kind of mindset that I personally have for playing league alone is not very good at making new friends.

11. For what it's worth I still meet people in LoL often! I'm an ADC/Supp main and if I que with a good random in the botlane, I will add them and ask if they want to go for another. This just happened today and happens all the time! This isn't dead Huzzy, you're not THAT old. 🙂

12. I agree with the skin problems, but at least its not the same two champs and skins every year anymore. Being able to choose one existing skin would be better and would probably be less costly than developing a new skin, but you could say the same for the victorious skinline – there's never been one I was interested in lol. Every year its a champ I don't play 😅

13. My problem with the honor system is that Its simply unfair especially for top lane. Even if you hard carry games and you are super nice to your team mates you just dont get any honors. Bot lane will honor eachother, jungle will honor whoever he had the most interactions with, same mid lane. Meanwhile top that is an absolute island doesnt get any interactions done with any players till 50-80% of the game is done. Hell, pretty often people dont even know that they had a specific champ in top lane till the game ends and therefore the chances to get honors as a top laner are super low compared to any other lane. In other words, why should I, a top laner care about the honor system if it does not impact me, bcoz of the misserable role that I play?

14. Things that amplify toxic behavior in Ranked League of Legends:

    1) No punishment for game ruining behavior (if you get people who intentionally ruin games in multiple games in a short period of time – lets say in one week – people will eventually snap and flame in chat, even the most resiliant players will at some point trigger the toxicity button if they dont quit)
    2) Game impact distribution between roles. Obvsly, if the majority of game impact is pretty much only in 1 role people will eventually snap on the player who plays the role, justified or not, it will happen
    3) Elo inflation that heppend in seasons 8-10. There are a lot of players that sit on way to high MMR for their skill level (remember when you could climb 1-2 as a Gold to Diamond with a 30-40% WR simply by spamming enough games, becuase Riot messed up LP gains and loses?
    The game needs a hard MMR reset every season. Cut the MMR by 90% and make everyone start in Iron/Bronze/Silver. Increase the time of high LP gains and also increase LP loses, so players that just spam games at season start cant just roll with low effort into their prev ranks. Make the climbing experience and actuall climbing experience instead of a 50 games rush into a hardstuck situation for almost an entire season (this btw also causes toxicity, bcoz being hardstuck triggers hopelessness feelings and therefore increasing frustration)

15. I mostly use after game chat to congratulate players who played well, if its the enemy or on my team, i dont care. its my 5 cents to make lol a happier place 😀

Actually relatively recently I had a day where I played as a 5 man premade with 5 random people because my 2 games of the day I got matched with the same team back to back and we were like clearly riot wants us to be a 5 man so lets be a 5 man. It doesn't happen often but there are times when it happens where people play together with random people after games.

18. the only time ive lost honnor is when ive flamed a dogshit toxic person. or people purposefully ruining games, and i dont regret it.. Riots failed to uphold the integrity of ranked so ive givin up on being an (honorable) player and i could care less about this new system untill riot pulls its head out of their ass. but they never will

19. I notice that in silver, most players aren't toxic but they mentally give up if they're not roflstomping the opposing laner in 10 minutes

20. When it comes to the question of the day, it's very easy to get someone to reach out and ask for you to Duo with them. It takes you having a good game and then they will often open and ask you if you would like to play again, since that person will trust you to play stabilized in the NEXT game. This is much more common with Supports, since I'm an ADC who doesn't flame you for making a mistake, I'll just say, "nt," if the attempt was fair and ask them how *we* can play it better.

21. here me out, we give 3 honors skins to champs with traditionally toxic mains like yasuo, riven, and draven so if the mains want to collect the skins that have to be better.

22. 24:00 That would happen if they announced the champion that would receive the skin in the beginning of the season, if they just announce it at the end then people will care more because it might be a skin for a champion that they play

23. Until the day comes that report and honor affect LP, i wont care to these changes…
    LP is the only think league players care and respect…the moment you take a -5LP for bad behavior, you will see change

24. I used to play alot of old Tahm Kench to grind out honor. It was really easy to get honors from people by using my w to save them from a tower shot or in the middle of a team fight. I also think akshan is a good champ as well with his revive mechanic

25. If they actually wanted to fix the reasons behind toxicity the would stop worrying toxic chats and fix the getting int'd every other game. People like myself that take it competitively which is what ranked but they won't they don't care about that part. Now I'm not saying chat flame is ok but the root cause of 90% of the chat toxicity is because u get that 1-10 top laner that refuses to play safe. I don't mean having a bad game we have all ran it down at some point. How do u expect people not to lose there mental when their trying to get better and increase ur rank when u have people that ruin ur game by inting. Now I know we have all had that 1 disco nunu or that guy that says at the start of champ select that says ehh idc about this game u better dodge. U can mute chat toxicity u can't mute people ruining ur game because they think its fun to lose ur LP. I don't care about rewards for not being toxic I care about people not fucking up my RANKED game because they think its funny r whatever. However I've tried to bring this to Riots attention but they honestly just dont care because they can't set up a easy algorithm to detected it like they can with chats.

26. Im honor 5 so anything free is a win for me lmao. Stuffs so expensive now so take any freebies while we can. Edit: on the “hey wanna play another” etc ye it still happens but mostly if you have your chat on or are a bot lane. My whole list is people like tht

27. I think Riot just need to offer up a token that players can redeem for a skin of their choice that isn't one of those 3250 or 1850 skin.

28. So basically one of the most competitive esports titles will never get an optional voice chat, is what I'm gathering from this.

29. I used to add random players to my friend's list and play with them but unfortunately over time it became more frequent that that player would be super toxic in the next game. I grew incredibly stressed out and eventually purged all of them. I also killed all chats as soon as it was possible.

30. I don't get why Malz. Like, surely you would choose the champions that toxic people play. I get they're going for the Victorious skin approach but, I don't know, I feel like picking a champ no one really plays, won't change much.

31. I got the token not too long ago looked at what I could get and saw 2 skins I already had so I picked a chroma which was pretty boring and didn’t feel very rewarding especially with how much your team like to test your ability not to flame someone dp to death
