I used trigonometry in carpentry for staircases and roofing, and I used a lot of the graphs etc when doing data analysis. French, history and geography however has been a waste of time for me xD
The problem is we have a minimum wage but restaurant owners are allowed to calculate a certain amount of tips in to the wage so they pay wait staff less than minimum wage with tips making up the rest. The rub is 1) if they don’t make enough in tips then the owners dont have to make up the difference and 2) minimum wage isn’t a livable wage to begin with. It really sucks :/
Yea the tipping does suck in the us. I wish they would do the uk method as far as tipping goes. We fo have a minimum wage in us but waitresses get a lower wage cause they are expected to get tips.
Us laws aren't weird. Uk laws are just lacking….lol.
I have used those on a calculator but I do calculations for a living building submarines.
What’s really sad about maths in school, in Australia our highest level of maths is portrayed as ‘this will have little to no real life application unless you get a super good engineering job or similar’ and I’ve used those more in my life (without ever using them while on the job) than anything else I ever learned maths wise. The idea that it can only really be used in very particular parts of life was bull, whereas everything else that was meant to be applicable to every day life was also, you guessed it, bull
For tipping in America, I was a waiter a few years ago, if you don't tip nothing happens to you by law its just looked down upon. And the percentage is constantly changing for no reason. Some places are okay with a 10-15% tip. Extra generous people will do 20% but the outliers are people who do above that and people who will do above that and some people feel entitled to the 20%+. Its dumb and I agree that being on the waitstaff should be a livable wage. The arguments against that is just dumb. The thing that always upset me working as a waiter was getting fake dollar bill tips ie looks like a dollar bill but is an advert for some church. I always hated it but never did anything on it because there is I never saw a point in making a scene in a small town about that.

Generally, as an American I only tip servers, delivery (as in Doordash pizza not amazon), and the bellhop. I do not tip anyone else but I am in the minority.
from my POV, getting good grades are just reflection of how disciplined/diligent you are in school (whether classes/activities) and Huzzy was right on increasing your chances in life.
The funniest laws I've found in the US. It is illegal to tie your horse to a light pole in las vegas, and it is legal, in a lot of states, that passengers may have alcohol as long as the driver can pass a sobriety test
Geometry and algebra I can see the use in daily life and professions. Trigonometry? No idea what that was for and still don't
I have not used them yet, but ive recently taken up algebra and calculus as brain teasers for fun.
I've also found a youtuber that dumbs it all down
The school bus thing is because of several accidents where kids got off the bus and went to cross the road, vehicle went to pass the bus and ended up hitting the kid(s). Really sad one a couple years ago where 3 kids all from the same family, all under 10 years old were killed by an idiot speeding around a bus.
Where I am, the speed limit is a guideline. The "acceptable" speed you should be driving is five over.
Love the doggy pics, Huzz!
Day 844 of helping Huzzy Algorithm
I have used sin/cos/tan, but i do linear algebra regularly for game camera manipulations etc.
I finally got first!
