A possible Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot might have been leaked on the Grand Theft Auto forums, though people are so far divided on whether or not it’s actually real. The screenshot, which shows a cowboy leaning on a porch railing in a town, isn’t much to go on, but still.
The possibility of it being an actual screenshot isn’t that far out of the realm of possibility. We’ve already seen some gameplay footage when Red Dead Redemption 2 first got its announcement trailer in October of last year, so a screenshot may not be out of the question.
With E3 coming up, it’s also likely that Rockstar has been gathering screenshots and gameplay footage to show off at the conference. If someone was able to steal a picture and post it online, it might be indicative of the final game.
However, other gamers think that the possible Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot is fake, for a number of reasons. Some people say the color is washed out and that it looks too cartoony, that the pose looks off, and a number of other reasons. However, not only could it be taken from off-screen, rather than a straight screenshot, but a number of details are also missing.
These include clean shadows and lines, and a number of other minute details that would point towards being a fairly late build. Since the game is supposed to be coming out sometime late this year, for it to be missing these details is rather odd.
The person that posted the possible Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot is also a brand-new account, and left the thread immediately after posting. The fact that he didn’t stick around to defend it could point to the fact that it’s fake.
Anyway, we’ll hopefully be seeing some more of Red Dead Redemption 2 at E3.
